1. Doctoral Qualifying Examination Exemption

(Conducted in accordance with Article 5 of the Doctoral Program Regulations of this curriculum)

Please complete the doctoral qualifying examination exemption process within six semesters after enrollment.

Application Process:

Complete the "Application Form for Qualifying Examination Waiver and Paper Publication Accreditation(A)." (Form A)  (PDF) (WORD)
The form can be downloaded from the Regulations and Forms section of the program's website. The original application form will be retained by the program office, and a copy will be kept by the student. For subsequent applications, students must request the original form from the program office for processing.

Application Period:

  1. Course Exemption:
    • Submit supporting documents and the confirmation form to the program office for review between the announcement date of grades for the exempted course and the end of the semester.
    • The semester grade for the course must be in the top 50% of the class to qualify for exemption. Applicants must attach their transcript (class ranking can be checked with the program office in advance).
    • Applications for course exemptions can be submitted starting from the grade announcement date for that semester, with a final deadline of three days before the end of the semester (In case of a holiday, the deadline will be postponed to the next two working day). Please be mindful of submission deadlines.
  2. SCI Papers/Patent Exemptions:
    • Registration Before Submission:
      Prior to submitting the paper or applying for the patent, register with the program and have it reviewed in the next Program Affairs Council meeting to qualify for exemption.
      Registration Process: Download the "Application Form for Exemption of Doctoral Qualifying Examination via Paper Publication or Invention Patent (B)" (Form B)(PDF) (WORD) from the Regulations and Forms section, complete it, and submit it to the program office. The date of submission to the program office will be considered the registration date. The program will assist in adding it to the agenda of the next Program Affairs Council meeting for review.
    • Post-Approval Submission:
      After the paper is published or the patent is granted, fill out the information in Confirmation (Form A) and submit it to the program office for review.

2. Paper Publication Review

The Paper publication requirements are outlined in Articles 6 and 7 of the Doctoral Program Regulations and the Principles for Recognizing Paper Publications.

Application Period:
During the degree examination application phase, obtain the confirmation (form A) from the program assistant for review.
